there was a lot of paperwork involved, and it took the full three hour block of time because of all the running around, signatures we needed to get from professors for each step and presenting the information several times over plus being questioned on it, but it went well and there were no complications.
i was so intimidated to start being in clinic and on rotatation. the professors can literally ask you anything they want to. anything! and if they're in a bad mood, they can make you feel an inch tall and tell you you don't deserve to be there or aren't ready to be there and because you feel an inch tall, you'll believe them. but everyone was really nice both today and yesterday, so i'm super excited to get in there more and do more stuff!
yesterday i was able to anesthetize a patient and today i got to extract a tooth. i was more nervous for giving anesthesia, because the patients don't like it (obviously- who likes shots?) and there are a lot of intraoral landmarks to remember, but again- it went well. i can tell the year is going to be stressful with both clinic and classes to juggle (clinic is really time consuming), but i'm excited for all the things i know i'll learn and am excited to start to feel like a real live dentist who works on real live people.
