give it up

it's not easy to give things up to God, but the bible teaches that casting our anxiety and our cares on Him is the appropriate action we are to take. when i have a conflict in life, whether its an obstacle to overcome, something to change within myself or a situation i can't control, i need to trust Christ and have confidence that He will take care of it for me. it's not easy, but He knows my heart better than i and knows what is best for me.

hebrews 4:14-15
"therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are- yet was without sin. let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

2 peter 5:6-7
"humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

psalm 27:13-14
"i am still confident of this: i will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

hebrews 12:7-12
endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. for what son is not disciplined by his father? if you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. how much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.

my favorite way to worship is definitnely through music. i find it so much easier to pour out my heart to God and let my emotions flow freely when i don't have to think of the words to say on my own; when i find the song that says exactly what i'm feeling and just praise Him or ask for help! i was driving back to milwaukee from chicago late last night listening to cheesy christian radio, and this was the one that stuck with me and really touched my heart.
