new.

so, it's been a bit, huh? sorry 'bout that. there are lots of new things going on in my life and with that means lots of busy-ness and very little blogging and updating. i know i've had final exams, Thanksgiving and Christmas craziness and now new years and i went home for the holidays for about ten days, which carved out a nice little chunk of time.

anyways, happy new year! IT'S 2011. that's crazy. i wish it was still an even number- i'm not a fan of the odds, but what can be done about that?

since the beginning of a new year always brings a lot of reflection on the past year and anticipation for the year to come, i'd like to sum up 2010 in a few words (and i would say this is in a particular order):

-healing. God was very gracious and did a lot of healing and repairing to my heart. good things happened with that.

-friendship. i made a whole bunch of great friends, especially at church. these people seriously enriched my life here in dc and made me enjoy living in this city a whole lot more (though i don't think i could ever LOVE dc, haha). also, i was very lucky to get to see my best friend in chicago a few times this summer, to visit another best friend this winter break when she was home from kansas and to see two more best friends at home in wisconsin! it was a lucky year to spend time with my favorite girls.

-routine. this past semester was typical, with the daily grind more strenuous than normal.

-failure. i made goals for 2010, but i don't always reach my goals. i pray that falling short makes me stronger and more determined to reach my goals, but that not succeeding doesn't hinder me from completely doing so. does that make any sense?

i told many people at the beginning of 2010 that i had a really good feeling about the year, and it did live up to it. 2010 was a really really really great year. it will be tough for 2011 to surpass it!

i've been trying to come up with goals for 2011, but i'm still processing. i'll think more about it and update again later when i have more concrete ideas of what i want to accomplish.

i leave you with a verse that jumped out at me when i was reading a couple days ago. goodnight, friends! happy new year!
"whoever acknowledges me before men, i will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. but whoever disowns me before men, i will disown him before my Father in heaven." matthew 10:32
