this happened yesterday at 12:30pm, 4 blocks from school. it made me scared:

i had this conversation today. it made me frustrated:
10:30am, wednesday morning 09.20.10
i call my patient at home. i speak with someone on the phone for about 3 minutes about setting up an appointment next week. i can't understand anything this woman is saying, it's muffled, she doesn't pronunciate and/or use grammar.
finally, she says, "who denis?"
me: "what?"
her: "who the denis?"
i say, "i am the dentist. i'm a student dentist."
she says, "oh, you lookin' fo' my daughta'. she no' here."
me: "you aren't pauline?"
lady: "yah, pauline or helene."
me: "are you pauline?"
lady: "my daughta' no' here, she at work."
me: "you have two daughters? pauline and helene?"
lady: "yah. she at work."
me: "okay, can i give you my name and number? can i leave her a message?"
lady: "i ain't got no pencil. i in bed righ' now."
me: "ooookayyyy."
awesome. get out of bed. it's a new day. go be the change.
i watched this movie preview. it made me sad, but inspired. i want to see it:

i read this article. it made me sad too:

my general feeling this morning is, this world is broken. how can i help fix it?
I too want to see Waiting for Superman, as well as Never Let Me Go...but no one will accompany me (sadness). My hometown is Toledo, OH (the 8th poorest city in the nation). Feel better? Did that broken english phone conversation alert you to the state of the world (because I don't think that's an indicator at all), or was it just random stuff?
