this morning (and actually most mornings) i woke up tired, my whole body just aching for a couple more hours of sleep. my bedroom windows were open so i could hear that it was raining outside, my bed was extra warm and snuggly, and i just didn't want to leave it. but when i got out of bed and hopped into the thankfully warm water of the shower, i realized i had a song stuck in my head. and it was a really really good song to have stuck in your head on a rainy monday morning! so despite 5 hours sleep, being behind in my classes and not having much to look forward to as this semester is just beginning to get tough, i know it's a great day. 'cause i got Jesus in my back pocket...and when "God is for us, who can be against us?" (romans 8:31)

i'm feeling super convicted today. convicted that i need to be in the Word more as this semester gets harder and my will to study gets weaker, my desire to watch tv and hang out with friends instead of being productive grows stronger. convicted to re-give my all to the King and run to Him with all i have. Lord Jesus, i need You.
...this song is by jeremy camp. if you don't know his story, it's pretty incredible and there's a good chance it will make you cry. to paraphrse it, he was a Christian, but not really living his life for Christ...then he fell in love with a really strong Christian woman. he found Jesus more through knowing her and seeing her relationship with the Lord. not long after, she was diagnosed with cancer and started going through chemo treatments, and they got married. 5 months later, she passed away and went to be with the Lord. it's a sad story, but it's so cool to see what has come of her being such a beacon for Christ. it is all fulfilling God's purposes... "and we know all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. for those whom he foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren." (romans 8:28-29) jeremy camp is now a light to so many who are lost and searching for hope amidst struggles and hardship. i'm sure his story of brokenness and healing through his relationship with God has drawn tens of thousands closer to the Lord and brought many to believe in Christ. it's awesome how God can change us and mold us to be more like Him through trials and suffering. (of course, this is all related to our sermon series at church on romans 8...good stuff.)
