it's summertime, yeah

i'm home in wisco, and i have internet! it's a miracle. steve-o called the internet company to ask them what the password was so i could log on. =) considering what heidi went through last week and that she still didn't get to check email for 7 days, i'm pretty stoked about this.

i've only been home for well, 5 hours now since it's pretty late, but already there are so many things i am now realizing i missed about being home, and that i really love about wisconsin.

1. it's super quiet here! no sirens, no cars whizzing by, no garbage trucks to wake me up at 8am on a saturday morning. if i open my bedroom window, i can hear the water lapping on the sea wall, and if it was warm enough for crickets to be out, i would surely hear them as well.

2. the old man driving the airport shuttle helped me with my heavy bag (i waaay overpacked, which is pretty uncharacteristic of me!) and drove me directly TO my car. not a stop, not an aisle, but to MY car. now that's service with a smile.

3. also on my way home, i saw the sun set all bright and hot pink and orange. from my apt in dc this isn't something i get to see ever, unless i'm outside and at least a few blocks away from the concrete jungle where the sun is actually visible. this is also one of the things i am looking forward to seeing every single night for the next few weeks. i'm sure i'll get some awesome sunset pics over the lake.

4. i already saw a doe twice and a little rabbit. oh they were so cute and fuzzy!

5. everything here is SO CHEAP! i went to the grocery store to get some treats to bring into the office tomorrow (i'm visiting the endo office i used to work at) and the progresso soup was only $2 a can. in DC it's $4-something. the fruit was all on sale as well, and the purple grapes i bought are nice and crunchy. mmmm!

6. i can see the stars. hallelujah.

7. where have all the cars gone? i feel like the streets are all so empty.

8. things close really early. i'm so used to Harris Teeter being open 24 hours, that i was shocked when the 1st grocery store i went to was closed at 10pm.

9. it smells really good outside! for dc not really being much of a city at all, it really stanks. maybe that's just the water purification plant a mile away, but it smells really good to be home.

i'll surely be adding to this list over my time at home!
