for easter, annie came in to town! it was so great to see her again. i hadn't seen my best friend since her wedding last september! that's way way too long. :)
she flew in on wednesday and since i still had final exams going on, she stayed the night with julie karabs! thursday morning i picked her up from st. arbucks, and we went and got mani-pedis, and just generally chilled, chatted in the sunshine and caught up on girl talk. we made fajitas for dinner at julie's and watched the office (i'm so sad michael scott is leaving! what the heck?).
i had asked annie what she wanted to do while she was here since we did all the monuments and super touristy stuff when she and matt visited two summers ago, and she said "cute restaurants and cute neighborhoods," so on friday we did old town, alexandria followed by ice cream at my favorite place ever- the dairy godmother. (they're from wisco! clearly they're the best.) in the evening we hit up georgetown and got a deeee-licious dinner at old glory. mmmmmm! since it had been raining all day and we were out and about window shopping, we were pretty tired by then, so we headed back to my house and rob stopped over, and we all watched some really good movie with anthony hopkins that i can't remember the name of. it was good though. you should see it.
saturday was annapolis, md, which i was super excited about since i hadn't been before! we arrived there about 11am to meet rachel for brunch, then just wandered around, ate MORE ice cream and shopped. we even walked through an open house that was going on for a tiny little row house! it was kind of adorable; the perfect little beach house. when we got back, anne and i ate some delicious barbecued wings at rob's house and colored easter eggs! i was so stuffed. and our eggs were fan-tastic. i was kinda sad to peel them all into egg salad, but they were fun to make.
on her last day here (easter morning!), anne, rob, julie and i went to the easter sunrise service at the lincoln memorial. though we weren't exactly on time, it was still a moving service, and the weather couldn't have been better! literally, it was 70 degrees and i didn't even need a jacket at 6:30am! miraculous. :) after a yummy brunch and a bit of studying, it was time for my bestie to leave me again. i was sad to see her go, but i know i'll see her this summer and i'm SO GLAD she was able to make it out to dc for the visit! thanks for coming, annie! i miss you!
a also sent me this video of carrie underwood singing "how great Thou art." as it's easter appropriate, i'm adding it to this post! enjoy! this girl is truly blessed with one of the most incredible voices i have ever heard.
