war

these two stories are on the sad side, and make me discouraged with the ways we humans treat one another. religion is powerful. it brings many together- aids us in forming stronger bonds with one another than any other commonality, but also is extremely divisive, to the point of war and death. one commonality i think all religions do hold is morality, and love. so why on earth in the name of these ideals we uphold so highly and in the name of our Creator God do we commit such atrocious acts? how do we become so blinded?


this story, which is national  headline news, talks about one of our own- a D1 at Howard. i'm definitely praying for the families of these guys and for them. maybe it's naive of me, but deep down inside i just hope and pray that it's all a misunderstanding.

then there's this one, about the tearing down of a Christian church in China. people are afraid of change- it frightens them, so i guess they react the only way they know how to prevent it. pray for these pastors and leaders who have just been sentenced without trial, for their families, and the body of believers.

luckily for us (and little does the Chinese government know) God isn't confined to a building and a church is in actuality a body of believers. if history has anything to say about it, this church will be better off for the persecution- bigger and stronger. new leaders will rise up, the congregation will thrive and more people will know about it from all the publicity. (i hope those evangelical pastors are filled with hope- if you're going in the slammer, do it like Paul!)
