i went to a halloween costume party to celebrate halloween. i got ready with a bunch of really fun girls, and met a whole slew of people! i dressed up as punky brewster, my childhood heroine. i remember being so excited every day when i got home from school to watch the reruns at 4pm before i went outside to play before dinner. heidi bought me the first two seasons of the show for christmas a few years ago and i watched them all. they're super corny now (and i guess they were then too, i just didn't know it!), but i can't wait to have my daughter watch them someday. like full house, every episode has a gem, a life lesson, a good moral. whether it's "saying no to drugs," "not being a bully," or "believing in miracles like santa," that show will always remind me of my childhood.

for halloween, heidi went as bret michaels from "rock of love." i've never seen the show, but she looked exactly like the google images picture of him! the resemblance was almost scary...
last weekend, i didn't have any exams to study for so heidi and i FINALLY got to go hike old rag! we have been planning on doing it since late summer, so we just barely got it in before winter (or i guess late fall here...) comes. it was a really beautiful hike, strenuous enough to please us both and took us 4 hours to complete. we got lost on the way there, which is totally typical...i don't know if we've done a hike that we haven't had a hard time finding, but after asking for directions we found we had taken the "scenic route," which we preferred anyhow. it was a gorgeous sunny, blue skied, cool day and i am so blessed that i got to get out and enjoy it.

we took the "fire road" up the backside of the mountain due to crowds and heidi's still healing ankle. next time we get to do the rock scramble!
